Ivy Tech offers summer camp for middle school students

Ivy Tech Community College is hosting free summer camps across the region this June and July to introduce middle school students to career opportunities in the fields of advanced manufacturing, healthcare and logistics. The Fast Pass Summer Camps provide hands-on experiences and workforce readiness soft skills that can help students plan and prepare for their futures.

Current 7th and 8th grade students in Bartholomew, Decatur, Jackson, and Jennings counties are invited to attend the free camps. The dates and locations of the camps are:

  • Bartholomew: noon-5 p.m. June 26-28 at Ivy Tech Columbus Poling Hall, 4475 Central Ave., Columbus.

  • Decatur: noon-5 p.m. June 19-21 at the Greensburg Learning Center, 422 E. Central Ave., Greensburg.

  • Jennings: noon-5 p.m. June 5-7 at the Education & Training Center, 1200 W O & M Ave., North Vernon.

  • Jackson: noon-5 p.m. July 10-12 at the Jackson County Learning Center, 323 Dupont Drive, Seymour.

    Individual camps during the times above will focus on the healthcare, advanced manufacturing or logistics industries. Lunch will be provided each day.

    All camps offer opportunities to:

    Explore career opportunities in the field of advanced manufacturing;

    Meet industry and business professionals who will mentor them on soft skills needed for careers, including timeliness, communication, leadership and problem solving;

    Learn about the education and skills needed for a variety of jobs;

    Identify high school classes they can take while also earning college credit.
