Jill Darlene Powell, 58, of Hope

She was co-owner of Brown Bottle in Hartsville and J.P. Electric, Inc.
Jill enjoyed being with family and friends, and she loved her dogs. She was a kind-hearted person who put others before herself. She was a loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Jill also loved the socialization that owning the liquor store gave her.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Cremation will follow.
Memorial contributions may be donated to the Bartholomew County Humane Society and Wounded Warrior Project through the funeral home.
Born November 9, 1957 in Decatur County, Jill was the daughter of Robert and Susan Taylor Owens. She graduated from South Decatur High School in 1976. She married Jim Powell on May 3, 1980 at St. Columba Catholic Church and he survives.
They were married for 34 wonderful years. Their love and dedication toward each other is a great example of true love.
Survivors include her husband; son, Brandon Powell of Hope; daughter, Alisha (Cody) Thompson of Hope; granddaughter, Lola Ann Thompson of Hope; brother, Robert "Butch" (Christine) Owens of Dalhart, TX; sister, Cherri (Jeff) Knox of Madison, IN; and nieces, Melea Gault, Kristin Stone, and Chelsea and Natalie Owens.
