Lonnie Mavis Clary, 53, Hope


Lonnie Mavis Clary, 53 of Hope died Saturday Aug. 1st, 2015 at his home.

Born July 29, 1962 in Indianapolis, Lonnie was the son of James C. Clary and Barbara Barnett Clary.

He worked for Cosco Kiddie for 25 years and graduated from Mid America College of Funeral Service and worked at funeral homes in Nashville and Orleans, Indiana.

He was recognized for his volunteer activities for Easter Seals, where he helped deliver wheelchairs.

He was a car enthusiast who loved to restore and admire Mustangs and was a member of the Camaro Pace Car Association.

He was also known for his generosity and friendship and for playing practical jokes.

He loved to participate in outdoor activities, such as kayaking and spelunking. During high school, Lonnie ran cross country.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m., officiated by Pastor Andy Kilps.

A graveside service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at West Newton Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Clary; his brother, Larry (Kassie) Clary; sisters, Karla (Dale) Whitley and Deniece Storms; stepsisters, Marjie Harberg and Leslie Rosenberg; twelve nephews and nieces and seven grand nephews and grand nieces.
