Marathon training offered by CRH

Columbus Regional Health's Wellness Program will offer its "Pace for the Race" half marathon training program starting Jan. 24th.

The annual training program provides education and training for participants to run a half marathon. The two races targeted are Derby Festival Marathon held in Louisville on April 25th and the One American 500 Festival Mini-Marathon held in Indianapolis on May 2nd.

Beginning and intermediate runners, as well as walkers, will be introduced to various training methods and will go on a weekly training walk/run. Classes will include presentations on nutrition, injury recognition and prevention and mental preparation.

These spring half-marathons provide a great training base for anyone considering the Mill Race Marathon or half-marathon in the fall.

The program's first class meets at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 24 at Donner Center. Subsequent class meetings will be held at Columbus Regional Hospital's Kroot Auditorium. The cost is $55 for the 14-week program. For more information, contact Shayla Holtkamp at [email protected].
