Mary Alice Thayer Cooper, 94, of Indianapolis

Mary Alice was born in Flat Rock, IN on April 30, 1922, the daughter of Leonard R. and Sarah E. (Dodd) Thayer. She married Ralph T. Cooper on March 27, 1944. He went to Heaven on May 1, 2010.
She was a graduate of Clifford High School and Indiana University School of Nursing.
Mary Alice was a registered nurse working for and retiring from St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, IN. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Wanamaker, IN.
She enjoyed gardening, quilting and family. She enjoyed having Easter Egg Hunts for her children and grand-children. She always had an ample supply of milk shakes in a freezer for her grandchildren.
Mary Alice is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Ken) Chandler of Columbus, Patricia (Bob) Marlin of Indianapolis, and Marilyn Fox of Greenwood, her sons David (Ramsey) Cooper of Bainbridge, and Thomas (Susan) Cooper of Schererville, grandchildren Janice (Brian) Meek of Hope, Jennifer Chandler of Columbus, Jacquelyn (Derek) Toross of Rye, NY, Jason (Holly) Marlin, Dale (Cory) Marlin, Barry Marlin, and Samuel (Margarita) Marlin of Indianapolis, Sarah Marlin of Helena, MT, Shelley Carlin of Greenwood, Christina (Dr. Charles) Randall of San Antonio, TX, Neil Oberg and Dr. Grant Burdeau of Schererville, Aubrey (Kyle) Naeve of Iowa City, IA, and Aaron and Angela Yost of Bainbridge.
Mary Alice is also survived by her brother, David Ray Thayer of Hope and sister-in-law Betty Thayer of Lebanon, as well as 19 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, husband, and brothers Thomas, Orren Dodd, Richard, and Lynn Thayer.
The funeral will be conducted on Tuesday, April 25 at 2 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home, 604 Main St., Hope with her sons David and Thomas Cooper officiating. Calling will be from noon Tuesday until the time of service at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery in Hope.
