Maureen "Mickey" (Herron) Thayer, 77, originally from Hope

Maureen "Mickey" (Herron) Thayer, 77, passed away from complications of Alzheimer's disease on January 22, 2018 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

She was born March 31, 1940 to Col. Bob and Virginia Herron. Mickey graduated from Hauser High School and Indiana Business College. She married William L. Thayer, Jr., on August 9, 1959.

Mickey is survived by her son Gregory (Amy) Thayer of Allendale, Michigan, her grandchildren Natalie and William Thayer, also of Michigan, her granddaughter Sarah Thayer of Indiana, and her former daughter-in-law, Dana Greathouse, also of Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001 and her son, Douglas Thayer, in 2013.

Mickey retired from Cummins Inc. Mickey was known for her love of family and IU basketball, and for her irreverent sense of humor.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers for the past three years on the Cook Memory Care Unit at Raybrook Manor, as well as the wonderful staff at Faith Hospice Trillium Woods.

Services will be at Norman Funeral Home in Hope, Indiana on Sunday, Jan. 28th at 2 p.m., with Pastor Brad Douglas officiating. Family will receive callers from 1 p.m. until service time. Per Mickey's request, there will be no viewing. Burial will be at the Hope Moravian Cemetery.[[In-content Ad]]
