New deputies sworn in for Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department

On Thursday, Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew A. Myers swore in two new Merit Deputies in BCSO's Training Room filled with members of the Sheriff's Merit Board, family, friends and several Sheriff's Office employees
Sheriff Myers sworn in Cory R. Lehman, 23, of Columbus. Deputy Lehman is a 2012 graduate of Columbus East High School and has served as a Correction's Officer and Special Deputy at the Sheriff's Office since 2011.
Deputy Brandon J. Sellers, 21, of Mooresville, was also sworn in by Sheriff Myers. Sellers is 23 years old, a graduate of Mooresville High School and the recipient of an Associate degree in Law Enforcement from Vincennes University.
These young men will be responsible for the enforcement of state and local laws relating to public safety and welfare. They must exercise independent judgment in dealing with dangerous or unusual situations and often work under stressful, high-risk conditions.
Following this swearing in ceremony, Sheriff Myers sworn in Rudy Olivo and Michael McCauley as Bartholomew County Reserve Deputy Sheriffs.
"Our Reserve Division is made up of dedicated volunteers who assist and augment the personnel of the Sheriff's Office with everything from road patrol to special events".
"Reserve Deputies are active members of our community who are trained as Deputy Sheriffs. They receive ongoing training in all aspects of law enforcement functions and work alongside our Merit Deputies", said Sheriff Myers.
BCSO's Reserve Unit is a uniformed unit and is under the supervision of BCSO's Road Commander, Captain Dave Steinkoenig
