New leader chosen for Developmental Services

Shane Burton has been named chief executive officer of Developmental Services, Inc. Burton will oversee all DSI operations including programs for children and adults with disabilities in central and southern Indiana.
Burton will replace Bill Hadar who retired in January after holding the post for over 28 years.
The decision to appoint Burton was made through a special selection committee comprised of DSI board members. Smith & Syberg, a Columbus, Indiana executive search firm serving companies in Central Indiana was also involved in the selection process.
Burton, a Columbus resident and native of Edinburgh has 23 years of experience at DSI including chief operating officer. Burton served as DSI's interim CEO following Hadar's retirement in January. In his previous post as DSI's COO, Burton lead the organization's long and short-term strategic planning as well as many of the day-to-day operations.
Burton is currently a member of the Columbus Mayor's Advisory Council on Disability and Accessibility, and is on the board of the Strategic Indiana Providers Network - a diverse group of 10 non-profit agencies and 2700 service professionals providing services to individuals with disabilities, children, and families in more than 70 counties in Indiana.
DSI was established in 1975 and currently serves around 2000 individuals with disabilities and employs over 600 people in 42 counties in central and southern Indiana. DSI programs include early intervention, support and advocacy, job training, placement and follow-along, residential living options, respite, after-hour activities, health and wellness, and community networking. DSI also operates seven program centers whereby clients receive day services including production work contracted from area business and industry.[[In-content Ad]]
