New Town Council members to be sworn in
Democrats Nellie Meek and Ed Johnson, both new members of the council, will be sworn in during a ceremony at 1 p.m. Friday at the Hope Town Hall.
Republican Ohmer Miller will be sworn in with other county Republican office holders during a 10 a.m. ceremony Saturday at the Bartholomew County Courthouse in Superior Court 1 according to Barb Hackman, county Republican party chairwoman.
Other new officeholders to be sworn in on Saturday include Circuit Court Judge Kelly Benjamin, Coroner Clayton Nolting and new County Council member Matt Miller. Re-elected Republican officeholders being sworn in again will include County Commissioners Rick Flohr and Larry Kleinhenz, County Council members Bill Lentz and Evelyn Pence, and County Surveyor E.R. Gray III.
Hope Clerk-Treasurer Diane Burton, an independent, was sworn in last Wednesday by Bartholomew County Clerk Jay Phelps at the county's voter registration office.[[In-content Ad]]
