Old-fashioned Independence Day seen as success
By From Barb Johnson-
Many who had been every year felt the same.
The weather was great! Food booths sold out. The crafts, games, and contests entertained the crowd. The cake walk was a success. The Bannister Family Band did their usual outstanding job of performing. And the fireworks were better than ever.
The children in the bike/tricycle/wagon parade all looked so festive, everyone was declared a winner.
Apple pies were judged with an adult and a children's category this year. The adult winners were Betty McQueen, 1st place; Mae Jessee, 2nd place; and James Hanson, third place. The winner for the children's category was Aydan Carnine.
The Yellow Trail Museum would like to thank Dave Webster for being our roving announcer for the evening and Kurt Heilman for singing the National Anthem.
Hartsville Fire Department did a great job with the fish fry to benefit the Yellow Trail. Many thanks go to all the volunteers who made the evening possible, and to all our guests who left the square in such great condition at the end of the evening.
Plan to join us again next year![[In-content Ad]]
