Petersville United Methodist Church news for Aug. 22nd

The Rev. Kirk Freeman will be the speaker at the 9 a.m. worship service Sunday at the church, 2781 N. County Road 500 E. Freeman has been serving as the "coach" for the Petersville Fruitful Congregation Journey Team the past year. Larry Nolting will be the liturgist, and Teresa Covert will give the children's message. The congregation is invited to bring a dish to share at the brunch immediately following the service.

The walking group will meet at 9 a.m. each Monday and Wednesday; choir practice will be Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. led by Kathy Bush, and Barb Hedrick will lead the prayer group on Thursday at 10 a.m.

"Worship on the Lawn" will take place at 10 a.m. on Sunday September 10 at the church followed by a pitch-in lunch, tailgate style, for all. The community is invited and those attending should bring a dish to share and their lawn chairs.

Bible study classes will resume on Monday September 11 at 6:30 p.m.; the group meeting at the home of Larry and Connie Nolting will study "Glory Days" by Max Lucado. The group meeting at the home of Chris Kimerling also will study a Max Lucado book, "When God Whisper's Your Name."

The United Methodist Men will sponsor its annual ice cream social at 6 p.m. September 17 on the east side of the church. Roasted hot dogs, drinks and ice cream will be furnished and those attending are invited to bring side dishes and desserts. Special guests will include Clay Township firefighters and their families. All are reminded to bring their lawn chairs.
