The Hope Community Center's pre-kindergarten program is one of hundreds around the state inviting people to "Pop-IN to Pre-K" this week as a way to raise awareness of the importance of early education.

Chelsea Kendall, executive director of the community center, says that people are invited to stop by to see their work with the kids from 9 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13th through Thursday, Dec. 15th.

Kendall said she would love to see parents, community members, as well as leaders of businesses and non-profits, as well as elected officials come by to see the work happening in the center.

The organizers of the event, All-IN for Pre-K, are hoping to raise awareness and push for legislative action to fund pre-kindergarten programs around the state.

Kendall said the pre-k program at the community center is actually running below capacity. She said there are 16 students enrolled now, and there is room for up to 24 children.
