Returning students to see changes at FRHC

Students in the Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp. will notice some big improvements when they usher in the school year Wednesday.

Shawn Price, the district superintendent, said most projects the district worked on during summer vacation are finished. Those include a new parking lot north of the field house, a newly created drop-off behind Hope Elementary School and renovated elementary classrooms.

He said the first-phase conversion of an outdoor courtyard into a learning area is about 90 percent finished, with only some reseeding still to come. He said junior high restroom renovations should be finished in the next couple of weeks.

Then there's the obvious administrative change at Hauser Jr./Sr. High School. Two weeks ago, David Wintin, a principal for two years at South Ripley High School, was hired as the new principal at Hauser. He replaces J.P. Mayer, who stepped down for personal reasons but remains in the district.

"We're fully staffed, and teachers are ready to go," Price said.

"It's going to be a great school year."

Wintin and Jessica Poe, the elementary school principal, could not be reached.[[In-content Ad]]
