Robert Stephen Compton, 40, of Columbus

Robert was born Sept. 12th, 1976 in Barren Co., KY.
He is survived by his mother Betty (Ping) Stivers, step-father Danny Stivers, and his sister Amber Compton (all of Hope, IN) and his grandfather BP Compton of Glasgow, KY.
Robert was preceded in death by his father Wellsery Compton, grandmother Flossie (Veluzat) Compton, grandfather Bryce Ping, and grandmother Geraldine (Moore) Ping.
A memorial service was held Saturday March 11th at Bowling Park, Edmonton, Ky. Visitation at 12-2 p.m. (Central time), service at 2 p.m. A second memorial service will be held Saturday March 18th at Norman Funeral Home in Hope, Ind. Visitation 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., service at 12 p.m..
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Schizophrenia Research Society at schizophreniaresearchsociety.org.
Robert attended Western Kentucky University and was a music enthusiast. He played tuba for a while with the Columbus City Band and was bass guitarist with the band 31 East. Robert had held the position of Ambassador for Centerstone's Indiana Club House, which allowed him to help educate others and support mental health awareness.
Appreciation and thanks is extended to all staff from Columbus Regional Hospital and IU Health Methodist who were in charge of Robert's care as well as to the Indiana Donor Network.
No words can describe such a loss, but there are far too many to describe how good of a person Robert was. He will be sorely missed and always loved.[[In-content Ad]]
