Flat Rock-Hawcreek schools have announced the winners of the 2015 FRHC Outstanding Alumni Awards: Barb Johnson and Roger Johnson.

Barb Johnson, a former elementary teacher, is director of the Yellow Trail Museum, a Simmons School marm and member of the Christmas of Yesteryear committee. She received the Sagamore of the Wabash award for her efforts to restore and to preserve the schoolhouse and she has received the Edna V. Folger Outstanding Teaching Award.

She is married to Ed Johnson, chief of the Hartsville Volunteer Fire Department.

Roger Johnson is the former state fire marshal. He began fighting fires with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and became chief of the East Columbus Volunteer Fire Department. He was appointed fire marshal by Gov. Mitch Daniels in 2005 and served in that role until 2008 and he was president of the Indiana Firefighters Association from 2006 to 2013.

Roger Johnson taught flammable liquid firefighting at University of Kentucky, Ohio State University, Indiana Fire School, and Notre Dame Fire School.

He is now retired.
