Sheriff announces partnership to aid seniors

Press release

The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office is pleased to announce its partnership with TRIAD. This partnership, which began on a trial bases in 2016, is working together to provide our older residents better safety and a better quality of life.

"BCSO is happy to sponsor Bartholomew County TRIAD, a unique and effective partnership between Bartholomew County senior citizens and your Sheriff's Office", said Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew A. Myers.

Unfortunately, seniors are all too often victims of consumer fraud and other scams. Those who have given so much sometimes end up being our most vulnerable citizens.

"TRIAD is designed to foster education while promoting senior safety", said Captain Brandon Slate, BCSO'S TRIAD liaison.

More than 20 years ago, the National Sheriff's Association, the National Association of Police and AARP signed a joint resolution to encourage a cooperative, coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to crime-related problems of older persons.

TRIAD is law enforcement and senior citizens working together to improve the safety of older adults in our community.

Through this partnership, TRIAD Bartholomew County joins an enthusiastic and growing state wide network of TRIAD programs in other Indiana counties.

Bartholomew County's TRIAD Team includes: Sheriff's Captain Brandon Slate, Kim Chandler Bowden, Dave Coffman, Sue Norman-Chapple and Michele Yerges.
