Sheriff seeks info on damaged road signs
By Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department-
On Feb. 23rd, at about 12:33 am, Bartholomew County Sheriff's deputies were called to the 8000 block of County Road 550W in reference to vandalism of a posted speed limit sign.
On arrival, deputies located multiple road signs covered with black paint. Between the areas of 525W, 550W, Carr Hill Road and Youth Camp Road, deputies located 14 road signs painted with graffiti, profanity, nudity, and swastika symbols.
It was reported that a dark colored truck dropped off an individual in the area and later, a white truck picked up the same individual and drove away.
Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew A. Myers says:
"This isn't just a matter of the cost to taxpayers for the county to replace these signs, this is also a public safety issue and I urge anyone with any information, no matter how seemingly insignificant, to please call us".
"This is very concerning because when motorists can't read these signs, it definitely creates opportunities for very serious accidents," added Sheriff Myers.
