Sheriff's department offering personal safety program
The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office is offering basic verbal de-escalation, basic self defense and basic firearms training for county residents
"Along with our Sheriff's Youth Academy, which has been a huge success, and our continued series of community meetings, these classes serve as another way to improve our partnership with residents," said Bartholomew County Sheriff Matthew A. Myers.
Instructors are BCSO Deputies who have decades of combined law enforcement and state-certified law enforcement instructor experience.
Major Chris Lane, BCSO Chief Deputy said "over the past several months, we have had increased requests to offer this type of training." "These sessions offer basic training but allow for (future) more advanced personal protection training sessions which will be offered by the Sheriff's Office."
