State Road 9 bridge work to start soon
By Indiana Department of Transportation-
Indiana Department of Transportation personnel met March 5th with contractor representatives and design consultants at Seymour District offices to review plans for a $1.5 million bridge project rehabilitating structures on either side of Hope in Bartholomew County.
R.A. Myers Construction of Muncie, the state's prime contractor, will tentatively begin operations at two State Road 9 bridges on April 10.
State Road 9 bridge at Little Haw Creek
The 3-span bridge over Little Haw Creek located north of Hope will receive a new 2-inch latex modified deck overlay. The state's contract also calls for specified repairs and new road approaches. Temporary signals at either end of the 100-foot-long structure will allow one-direction-at-a-time continuous traffic flow.
State Road 9 bridge at Clifty Creek
The 4-span 260-foot-long structure over Clifty Creek, located south of Hope, half of a mile north of State Road 46 in Clifty and Clay Townships, will be widened and repaired before crews remove and replace the bridge deck and bridge rail. The state's contract also calls for substructure repairs and new approach slabs. One-direction-at-a-time traffic flow will be controlled by temporary signals at either end of the bridge.
The State Road 9 traffic south of Hope is 4,780 vehicles per day. North of Hope, the traffic count is 4,070 vehicles per day.
