State Road 9 crash injures two

A crash Sunday night on State Road 9 in Hope injured two drivers.

On November 15, 2015, at 7:30 pm, Bartholomew County Sheriff's Deputy Terrance Holderness was called to the scene of personal injury accident on State Road 9 north of Grand Street.

A white 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by Joshua Campfield, 24, Hope, was southbound on State Road 9 north of Grand Street when a yellow 2002 Ford Ranger, driven by David Day, 30, Shelbyville, crossed the centerline as it travelled northbound.

Campfield swerved into the northbound lane to avoid a collision just as Day noticed that he had drifted across the centerline and corrected his vehicle back into the northbound lane.

Both vehicles impacted head-on and came to rest blocking both lanes of State Road 9.

Campfield suffered injury to his right arm. Day sustained an injury to his right hip. Both were transported by EMS to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment.

A reconstructionist from the sheriff's dffice responded for additional investigation and State Road 9 was re-opened at approximately 10 p.m.

Alcohol was not a factor in this accident.
