Stephen D. "Meeker" Meek, 76, of Shelbyville
Steve was retired from UPS. He was a member of Flat Rock Christian Church.
He enjoyed playing senior softball. Steve really enjoyed the time he spent while helping at his son's body shop. He also liked to go fishing.
Born on Aug. 29, 1941 in Shelbyville, Steve was the son of Toila Belle Alexander Meek. He was helped raised by his grandparents, William and Toila Belle Alexander. He married Betty Swinford on May 26, 1963 at Flat Rock Christian Church, and she survives.
Other survivors include children, Brady Meek (Tina Yates) of Mooresville and Jill (Thomas) Hebbe of Greenfield; grandchildren, Brandi Meek of California, Douglas Meek of Carmel, Jordan (Clark) Cord of Colorado Springs, CO, Jacob Hebbe of Greenfield, and Andy Yates of Mooresville; great-grandchildren, Morgan Higdon of Manilla, Nathan Meek of Florida, and Ian Eiler of Shelbyville; brother, Scott (Joan) Alexander and sister, Jeanine (Richard) Clanton of New Ross, IN.
Steve is preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother; his father, Letcher Meek; and great-grandchild, Logan Higdon.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 5th at 11 a.m. at Flat Rock Christian Church. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 4th from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow at Flat Rock Cemetery.
