Noel H. Knifley, 67, of Columbus
Noel H. Knifley, 67, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer.
Noel was born on February 1, 1951 in Campbellsville, KY to William and Mary Jones Knifley.
Noel was a 1969 graduate of Hauser High School in Hope. After graduation, he attended General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan where he earned a degree in Industrial Engineering. Noel began his career at Delco-Remy and joined Cummins in 1980. He earned a Master of Science in Manufacturing Management in 2000. He retired in 2013 after 33 years of service.
He was a member of Ovid Masonic Lodge and Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He enjoyed his family, fishing, lots of golf, and sitting outside on his deck.
Noel is survived by his mother, Mary of Columbus; daughter, Kelli (Mike) Giles of Hope; son, John Knifley of Columbus; granddaughter, Danielle Giles of Hope; great-granddaughter, Aleah Giles of Hope; sisters, Nancy (Grover) Patrick of Fort Wayne and Pamela (Marty) Emmert of El Paso, TX; nephew, Aaron (Shana) Emmert of Roswell, NM; two great-nephews of Roswell, NM; and mother of his children, Vicki Knifley.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wm J. “Bill” Knifley.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 5 p.m. with a Masonic service following at Norman Funeral Home. Words will be shared by David Dailey and Dale Dasher. Memorial visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
