Joan Venable, 89, of Hope

Joan Venable, 89, of Hope, died Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Joan worked over 21 years at Ken-Joy as a QMA. She was a member of Hope Baptist Church.

She enjoyed working in the yard and growing flowers. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and recently became an accomplished card player.

Born on Aug. 29, 1928 in Shelbyville, Joan was the daughter of Alfred and Blanche Updegraff Price. She married William Paul Venable in 1946, and he preceded her in death in 2004.

Survivors include children, Maria Sauer of Indianapolis and Tom (Linda) Venable of Hope; three grandchildren, Shelley, Eric, and Michael; three great-grandchildren, Dustin, Sydni, and Mikey.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Wanda Lou “Pud.”

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer’s Association.
