Parker “Ed” Tempest, 83, of Columbus

Parker “Ed” Tempest, 83, of Columbus, died Friday August 31, 2018 at 10:02 p.m. at St. Vincent Hospital.

Born Sept. 29, 1934 in Bartholomew County, Parker was the son of Flavius and Mabel Vansyoc Tempest. He married Ruthanna Sprague Oct. 23, 1963 and she survives.

Other survivors include children, David L. (Janet) Tempest of Scipio, Debra (Bill) Ritchie of Columbus, Daniel L. (Deborah) Tempest of Greensburg and Donald Parker (Mary) Tempest of Lowesville, VA; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Larry (Lynda) Tempest of Cocoa, FL and John Tempest of Old Town, FL.

Parker was retired from Reliance Electric after 30 years. He had a wooden toy making business called Pap’s Wooden Toys.

He was a member of Waynesburg Christian Church.

He loved woodworking, antiquing and gardening

The funeral will be Wednesday at 110 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. David Burnett officiating. The visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 1 hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

Parker was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred Dean and Billy Franklin Tempest; sisters, Mary Ellen Pottebaum and Molly Jane Perkins and a great granddaughter, Kasey Bozell.
