Harriet McQueen, 93, of Shelby County
Harriet McQueen, 93, of Shelby County, died Friday, September 14, 2018 at Waldron Health and Rehab.
She was a farmer’s wife and stay at home mom. She graduated with a degree from William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shelbyville.
Harriet was a volunteer at the hospital for 35 years. She enjoyed knitting, flowers, crossword puzzles, reading, and playing bridge. She enjoyed fishing in her younger days.
Born on Jan. 27, 1925 in Shelbyville, Harriet was the daughter of Benjamin and Reba Drummond Piatt. She was one of the first babies born at Major Hospital. She married A.J. McQueen on September 16, 1945, and he preceded her in death on February 20, 1986.
Survivors include sons, Jeff (Janet) McQueen of Danville, Chris (Polly) McQueen of Brown County, and Randy (Mary) McQueen of Shelbyville; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Harriet is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Amelia Roell and Mildred Piatt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville with Father Mike Kuecher officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Grade School in Harriet’s name.
