Robert “Bob” W. Harris, 78, of Orleans

Robert “Bob” W. Harris, 78, of Orleans, passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 at Rosegate Village in Indianapolis, IN.

He was born December 16, 1939 in Sulphur, IN, the son of Clyde R. and Bernice (Mock) Harris.

He married Linda Harris (Hodson) on February 21, 1959 and she survives. They traveled three years with the Jones Company before returning to make Orleans their home. Once established in Orleans he took employment with Holland Dairy where he worked more the thirty years. He also received his Real Estate Agent and Broker licenses from Indiana University.

Robert and wife, Linda were former co-owners of Herles Café. He was a member of the Orleans United Methodist Church, Orleans Kiwanis Club, Orleans J.C. Men’s Club, Realtor Association and former member of the Springs Valley Saddle Club.

Robert served many years as Precinct Committeeman of the Republican Party. He also enjoyed many years as a little league baseball coach, coaching his son and grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of Orleans; one daughter, Kristin Harris-Deckard of South Port, IN; one son, Scott W. Harris of Blue Springs, MO; four grandchildren, Adam, Kyleigh, Amber and Mason; two great grandchildren; one brother, Don (Patsy) Harris; one sister, Sheila Schutz; a nephew Tim Harris and a niece Jennifer Villiger, both of Columbus; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Tammy Harris-Walker; two sisters, Thelma Myers and Mary Lee Newlin.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m.  on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 at the Orleans United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Finney and Rev. Lewis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Orleans.

Friends are invited to visitation at the Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m.
