Hope resident among 50 arrested in drug sweep

A Hope resident was among 50 people arrested by Johnson County and other area authorities in a sweep of suspected drug dealers Thursday morning.

Johnson County Sheriff Duane Burgess and the prosecutor's office held a press conference to announce the drug sweep. Burgess said agencies from Johnson County, Marion County and the U.S. Marshals assisted in conducting the warrant sweep.

"I am very proud of the work that has been done to take these individuals off the street," the sheriff posted on Facebook. "The citizens of Johnson County need to feel safe and we need to be very vigilant in keeping our children safe from these individuals who deal in illegal narcotics. Our work isn't complete and we will continue to work diligently to make Johnson County safe."

Among the 50 arrested was Adam Taylor, 36, of Hope on a charge of dealing in methamphetamine.
