Wanted Hope man arrested after being spotted by officer

On August 4, 2019, at approx. 11:06 pm, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies were advised by an off-duty Hope Police officer that he observed Joshua D. Lucas in a silver Impala as it was leaving the area of the Circle K gasoline station.
After deputies confirmed that Lucas, 26, 115 Broad Street, Hope, had an outstanding warrant, Deputy Andrew Dougan located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.
Deputy Dougan located a bag on Lucas’s person that contained a white crystal substance, suspected to be methamphetamine, as well as a brown powder that was suspected to be heroin.
Lucas was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of:
- Possession of heroin
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Warrant – Bartholomew County
- Warrant – Out of County
He remains in BCJ without bond.
All persons are considered innocent unless/until proven guilty in a court of law.
