Joyce D. Hand, 87, of Columbus

Joyce D. Hand, 87, of Columbus, died February 21, 2019 at the Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Born April 11, 1931 in Zenus, Joyce was the daughter of the late Luther and Mable Taylor Allee.

After graduation from North Vernon High School in 1949, Joyce worked for Cincinnati Bell in Cincinnati, Ohio. Joyce later transferred to the Columbus office of Indiana Bell as an information operator and later came to work for Columbus Regional Hospital as a PBX operator for over twenty three years. After retirement from Columbus Regional in 2008,

Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends. During her younger married life, Joyce enjoyed camping with her family, gardening, traveling and playing the piano. She also enjoyed all the holidays; especially Christmases with her family. Joyce was married to Welby A. Hand on April 19, 1952 in North Vernon; he preceded her in death on December 10, 1998. Also preceding her in death were her parents and bothers; David and Kenneth Allee.

Joyce is survived by her children Kathi (Fred) Rasener, Rick (Melodee) Hand, Kim Hand, Nelson (Kim) Hand and Jodi (Ron) Shadley, all of Columbus; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Campbell, of Zenus and Sharon Daugherty of Nebraska.

The funeral service for Joyce will be 1:00 p. m. Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in the chapel of Garland Brook Mausoleum with David Burnett officiating.

Friends may call from 11:00 a. m. until service time. Burial will follow. Norman Funeral Home of Hope is in charge of arrangements
