Buddy F. Tempest, 84 of Columbus
Buddy F. Tempest, 84 of Columbus, died Tuesday January 1, 2019 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
He was employed for 40 years at Cummins as an inspector. In high school he had worked with his dad as a painter.
For many years he was a member of Newbern United Methodist Church and then was one of the founding members of The OutReach Church in East Columbus. He was a member of Cummins Diesel Workers Union and Creek Club.
Buddy loved spending time with his family and playing games with his grandchildren. His hobbies were Astronomy, riding motorcycles, trains and gardening with emphasis on raising pumpkins for the blossoms to eat.
The funeral for Buddy will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Pastor Carl Green officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Born November 26, 1934 in Newbern, IN, Buddy was the son of Frank H. and Hazel Steinbarger Tempest. He married Brenda Sherfick August 30, 1958 and she survives.
Other survivors include, daughters, Joni (Mark) Tempest- Worley of Indianapolis and Lori Rea of Columbia, KY; grandchildren, Jasmine (Jeff) Milligan of Morgantown and Elijah Rea of North Vernon and a great granddaughter, Anniston Milligan of Morgantown.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Eugene Tempest.
