Ray P. Harter, 87, of Hope

Ray P. Harter, 87, of Hope died Tuesday Jan. 1, 2019 at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Before retirement he was employed as a factory worker for 50 years.

He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles and basketball.

The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with pastor Andy Kilps officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hawcreek Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be donated to The Cross of Hope.

Born Nov. 28, 1931 in Whiteland, IN, Ray was the son of Zebert and Nora Knapp Harter. His father died at a young age and Ray’s Uncle Walter Knapp helped raise him and his sisters.

Ray married Margaret Leach April 27, 1960 and she preceded him in death May 18, 2018.

Survivors include, sons, Jerry Harter of Salem and Larry Harter of Hope; 1 grandson; his dog Daisy and a special niece, Linda Mouser.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sisters, Gladys Smith, Lela Harter and Fern Lucas.
