Friday Cruise-In featuring baking contest, music on Town Square

The monthly Cruise-In on the Hope Town Square will feature a baking contest, along with live music, vendors and the pampered vehicles.
The monthly cruise-ins are organized by Main Street of Hope and the town of Hope. Susan Thayer-Fye with Main Street says Friday event will be from 5 to 8 p.m. with musical guests the Hauserboyz starting at 6 p.m.
New this month will be baking contest.
"Bring out your vintage or your tried and true recipes and enter a friendly baking competition for prizes and bragging rights!" Thayer-Fye said.
"This is an Open Bake Contest meaning you can bring your best dessert recipe. Cakes, pies, cookies, cheesecakes, etc. will all be accepted. If it is a dessert and it is your best dessert recipe, please enter it!"
The schedule for the baking contest:
- 5:15 – 5:45 p.m. Drop off baked items at: Hope Library Annex, 619 Harrison St.
- 6 – 7:30 p.m. Judging
- 8 p.m. Winners announced from the bandstand
Prizes will be awarded to the grand champion, first runner up and second runner up.
Other contest rules:
- There is a $5 entry fee per dessert.
- You may enter as many items as you like.
- Please bring your baked item(s) in a disposable container or one that you don’t want back.
- The judges will be allowed to each take one item from the bake contest as thanks for judging.
- The baked items will be auctioned off from the bandstand following the announcement of winners.
- The items that are left will be sold for $5 each with the proceeds going to the Cruise-In to Hope.
- Please arrive at the bandstand by 7:50 p.m. for the announcement of the winners and presentation of prizes.
Thayer-Fye says that vendor space is also available free of charge inside the square. Food will be available in the shelter house.
