Kids sought for Old-Fashioned Independence Day events

Hope's Old Fashioned Independence Day Celebration will be here before we know it.

There will be many activities for kids that evening, but a few need some warning ahead of time. The Yellow Trail Museum is asking kids between the ages of 3-10, to consider running for the Little Miss Sparkler and Little Mr. Firecracker Contests. Children (or parents) who are interested in participating should visit the Yellow Trail Museum, WiLLow LeaVes of Hope, or the Hope Branch of the Bartholomew County Public Library to pick up a registration form to sign up to enter the contest. Then each contestant should decorate a jar for collecting penny votes for the honor of becoming this year's Miss Sparkler or Mr. Firecracker.

Votes can be collected as soon as a registration form has been turned in and all votes should be turned in at one of those three locations no later than noon on June 26. Votes will be counted and the winners crowned about 5:30 p.m., on the night of the Old Fashioned Independence Day Celebration , June 28th.

The winners will be asked to lead the Kids' Bike Parade once around the square immediately after the crowning. Questions can be answered at 812-371-7969.
