Low-speed police chase wends through Hope streets
By Hope Police Department-
An Edinburgh driver led Hope police and Bartholomew County deputies on a low-speed chase yesterday afternoon.
Marshal Matt Tallent says Officer Jason Tucker attempted to stop a Black 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee for an unsafe vehicle violation at 3:47 p.m. Wednesday. But the driver of the vehicle refused to pull over, leading officers on a slow speed pursuit around the town streets and the surrounding area.
"The pursuit led to the back side of the Dodd farm where the suspect ran his vehicle into a creek bank then ran on foot," Tallent said. "A Bartholomew County Sheriffs Deputy had a short foot pursuit with the suspect before apprehending him."
The suspect, Randy S. Colburn, 42, of Edinburgh was first transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for medical clearance and then to the Bartholomew County Jail. Charges include:
- Resisting Law Enforcement
- Criminal Mischief (greater than $750 damage)
- Driving While Habitual Traffic Violator
- Bartholomew County Warrant
