James P. Clouse, 96, of Hope
James P. Clouse, 96, of Hope and Blacksburg, Virginia passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb 10, 2019.
He is survived by his children, Ellen (Rick), Jim, Susan and Peter; his grandchildren Bryan (Kelly), April, Matthew, Seth, Rachel, John and Ethan; and his great-grandchildren, Avery and Charlie. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara in 2012.
James was full of life, loving, caring, compassionate and always optimistic. He lived his life fully, a Boilermaker and Hokie until the end. He always described himself as a teacher but everyone knows he was so much more – farmer, world traveler, distinguished professor, woodworker, friend and neighbor. He served as a Sergeant in the 27th Army Air Forces Base Unit out of Ft. Sam Houston, TX during WWII.
Born in Hope, IN to Mary and Miller Clouse, he earned his degrees at Purdue University and after teaching Ag Education there until 1973, he went to VA Tech to head the Ag Ed department until 1978. He retired in 1987 and began his second career as a craftsman/woodworker.
A graveside memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Hope Moravian Church Cemetery, 202 Main Street, Hope IN 47246.
