Dorothy A “Jackie” Bense Beck, 86, of Franklin

Dorothy A “Jackie” Bense Beck, 86, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Homeview Health & Rehab Center.

Before retirement she was a 4th grade school teacher for 25 years at Winchester Elementary School in the Perry Township School System. She graduated from Hope High School in 1950. She then graduated from Indiana Central College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and then graduated from Indiana University with a Master’s Degree in Education.

Jackie enjoyed gardening, grain farming and raising cattle with her husband. She loved spending time with her family.

The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope, Indiana with Rev. Shan Rutherford officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born August 27, 1932 in Hope, Indiana, Jackie was the daughter of Louis Bense and Anna Louise Gelfius Bense. She married Morris L. Beck April 8, 1952, who preceded her in death December 12, 2018.

Survivors include sons, Philip Louis (Jenny) Beck of Franklin and Morris Lynn (Debbie) Beck of Clarks Hill, IN; grandchildren, Andy (Kristi) Bayliss of Franklin, Kurt (Jennifer) Bayliss of Greenfield, Ryan (Jamie) Beck of Franklin, Adam (Dana) Beck of Mulberry, Sarah (Casey) Null of Mulberry, and Marcus (Brandi) Beck of Lafayette; 16 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Louis and Kenneth Bense.

HOPE
