Christmas of Yesteryear set for Nov. 22nd
For over 10 years the Christmas season in Hope has begun with Christmas of Yesteryear, the Friday before Thanksgiving.
This year, the event is going to be on Friday, Nov. 22, from about 5:30 to 9 p.m. on the Hope Town Square. We are hoping we have a huge crowd to enjoy the fun that evening as merchants will stay open a bit later, and will sign tickets for guests who make a purchase. These tickets will be put in a drawing at the end of the evening for three $75 gift certificates to the local business of the winners' choice.
That evening, Santa will arrive at Sweet Chiropractic at about 5:30 p.m. to greet children and to hear their lists of wishes for the holiday. There will be strolling carolers entertaining throughout the evening. And we will get a chance to experience the true meaning of Christmas as the Baptist Church presents a Live Nativity at both 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. in the shelter house.
There will visits with Hope's characters from the past as guests are welcomed to ride on people movers pulled by tractors to meet these people who influenced Hope in so many ways.
And don't forget to visit the Yellow Trail Museum to shop at their huge bake sale, to decorate Christmas cookies, or to make Christmas crafts, as well as look at the hundreds of artifacts there.
There will be several opportunities to get free hot chocolate or coffee to keep you warm. But the main thing is all present get to share the Christmas spirit with friends and visitors to town. Questions about the evening can be addressed to Lizzie at the museum at 812-546-8020, or Barb at 812-371-7969.
