Yellow Trail hosting busy slate of activities

By By Barb [email protected]

We are coming upon a very busy season for the Yellow Trail Museum and wish to let the community know about all our events.

First we will be taking part in the Goodies, Goblins, and Ghost Stories event in the town square on October 25th. The museum will once again offer free tours starting at 5:30 p.m. during which we will meet some very unusual characters from the past during "Night at the Museum." Tours will begin every 15 minutes with the last tour starting at 7:30 p.m.

Then the following week, the museum will be open during Trick or Treat hours on October 31, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. We will have free crafts, games, and snacks for young and old alike. And you are welcome to stay as long as you wish.

November continues with activities. On Sunday, Nov.3, the museum will host a Sunday Social, but this time it will be at the Moravian Church as Michael Cartwright from the University of Indianapolis will return to discuss more things about Hartsville College, and especially student, Bertha Clouse. This program was moved to the church to allow a larger audience, and runs from 2 to 4 p.m.

November 11th, Veterans' Day, we will be back at the museum to offer our annual free luncheon for Veterans and their guests beginning at 10:30 a.m. We would encourage any veterans to share service stories with us that day.

And we can't forget "Christmas of Yesteryear." Set this year for Friday, Nov. 22, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Santa will once again meet young guests at Sweet Chiropractic Office from 5:30 p.m. until the kids run out. There will be wagon rides to visit some of Hope's past residents on Christmas Eve of their featured year. Stores will be open late. Strolling Carolers will entertain. There will be two programs around the Live Nativity in the shelter house at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. And of course, the museum will be hosting its annual bake sale and cookie decorating.

The museum will wrap up its yearly events with the "Christmas Homes Tour" on Friday, Dec. 6th, from 6 to 9 p.m. during which you will be able to tour five homes, the Baptist Church, and a business for a $10 ticket. Tickets will go on sale during "Christmas of Yesteryear' through the night of the tour.

Questions about any of our upcoming programs can be addressed to Lizzie at the museum by calling 812-546-8020.
