Mary Marie Bassett Henderson, 81, formerly of Hope

Mary Marie Bassett Henderson, 81, formerly of Hope, died Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. at Heritage House in Shelbyville.

Mary was a homemaker. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, crochet, and her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Born December 6, 1937 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Edward and Lettie Baker Bassett and was the youngest of 11 children. She married Charles E. Henderson on June 16, 1962, and he preceded her in death on July 18, 1998.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Lettie (Franz) Harker of Hope; son, Tom (Artina) Henderson of Brown County; grandson, Franz J. (Nicole) Harker of Hope; granddaughter, Natasha Harker of Hope; great-grandson, Caden Harker; great-granddaughter, Makayla Harker of Hope; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; grandson, Matt Henderson; brothers, Robert and Jack Bassett; sisters, Ruby Tucker, Martha Clayton, Nell Sparks, Ruth Landwerlan, Patsy Bastin, Betty Taggart, Marilyn Wilson, and Lucy Saunders.

Visitation will be held on Friday 4 to 6 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Cremation will follow and a private inurnment will be at Bennett Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to Student’s Fund of Hope.
