Willard D. Leonard, 84, of Columbus, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2019 at Assurance Health in Indianapolis.
Willard began working at Golden Foundry in 1956 and retired in January 1997 after 40 years and 3 months. He is a member of Hope House of Prayer in Hope and previously attended Hope Community Church.
Willard enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and riding motorcycles, but his favorite was playing music with his family.
Born on Oct. 10, 1934 in Union Hill, Tennessee – Clay County, Willard was the son of Henry and Myrtle Troubaugh Leonard. He married Mary E. Hall on January 31, 1953 in Columbus, and she survives.
Other survivors include children, Linda Sue (William “Fuzz”) Smith of Elizabethtown and Rev. Rick (Sherry) Leonard of Greensburg; grandchildren, Jason (Adria) Smith, Amy (Ronnie) Smith, Shanon (Brett) Pittman, Jeromy (Denise) Leonard, Misty Pearl, and Toby Gibson; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Denio Johnson, David Leonard, and Leroy Leonard.
Willard is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Jamie Gibson; and brothers, Henry Leonard Jr. and Willie Leonard.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Leonard officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.
