Harold W. Gearhart, 84, of Columbus

Harold W. Gearhart, 84, of Columbus passed away peacefully on Dec. 11, 2020 at home surrounded by his wife and children.

Born March 27, 1936 in Shelby County, Harold was the youngest of four children to George and Mamie Gearhart. On March 29, 1956 he married the love of his life, Maurita Irene Embry, and together they raised six children, Randy, Lesa, Anne, Jeff, Nathan and Giovonna.

Harold spent 60 years of his life as a truck driver and business owner. He was kind-hearted and witty, and loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed camping, traveling, four-wheeling, square dancing and spending the winter months in Arizona. He loved basketball and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play on high school teams.

Harold was baptized and was a member of Hope Baptist Church and had attended the Community Church of Columbus the last several years of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Maurita, children Randy (Teresa) Gearhart of Hope, Lesa (Dan) Sciavillo of Port Chester, NY, Anne (Nat) Reinle of Hope, Jeff (Pippa) Gearhart of Columbus and Giovonna (Bob) Everdeen of Bulverde, TX; grandchildren Benjamin (Annie) Gearhart, Jarod (Katie) Gearhart, Zach Gearhart, Daniel Sciavillo, Spencer (Chelsea)Reinle, Ashley Gearhart, Jason (Whitney) Gearhart, L.J. (Erica) Gearhart, Allison Everdeen (Travis Williamson) , Jack (Madison) Everdeen, Gage Everdeen, Steven Gearhart and Quintin Macy;great grandchildren Matthew Gearhart, Gabriella Gearhart, Emma Reinle, Josie Bragg, Emma and Connor Gearhart, Addelyn Gearhart and Lucas Gearhart.

Harold was preceded in death by his father, George Gearhart, mother Mamie Gearhart, brothers Allen Henry and Melvin Gearhart, sister Bonnie Keller, son Nathan Gearhart, grandsons Michael Sciavillo and Josh Montgomery.

Due to the current COVID restrictions, a private service will be held at Norman Funeral Home with burial at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
