James W. Schrougham, 79, of North Vernon

James W. Schrougham, 79, of North Vernon, passed from this life at 12:28 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, Indiana.

Mr. Schrougham was born June 8, 1941, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of the late Warren and Elizabeth Stott Schrougham. On June 3, 1960, James married Geneva I. Moore; she preceded him in death September 26, 2007.

Mr. Schrougham was a 1959 graduate of Columbus High School. He was employed in general maintenance and served on the Emergency Response Team at Cummins Engine Company retiring after 28 years of service.

Mr. Schrougham was a member of the Diesel Workers Union. An outdoorsman, he always had a passion for golf.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his sons, Mike (Peggy) Schrougham of Spencer, Indiana, Steve (Virginia) Schrougham of Hope, Indiana and Kevin (Cindy Bushway) Schrougham of Port St. Lucie, Florida; grandchildren, Auston Schrougham of Bloomington, Indiana, Jacy (Jay Frazier) Schrougham of Columbia, Maryland, Donavan (Stephanie) Schrougham of Westport, Indiana and Stephanie Schrougham of Hope, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Marli, Liam and Olivia; sister, Carolyn Sturgill of Columbus, Indiana; and his companion, Diana Carson of Greensburg, Indiana.
Mr. Schrougham was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Elizabeth Schrougham; his wife, Geneva Schrougham; and an infant daughter, Cheryl Schrougham.

In keeping with Mr. Schrougham’s wishes, cremation is planned. A celebration of life service will be held at a later at the convenience of the family. Private inurnment will take place at the Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice of charities.
