Yellow Trail museum looks forward to new year of activities
The Yellow Trail Museum is beginning plans for what we hope will be one of the most successful years at the museum.
On Tuesday evening, January 21st, all board members and museum members or those wishing to become involved are invited to a discussion meeting at the museum at 6:30 p.m. During that meeting we hope to give everyone with an idea about what needs to happen at the museum a chance to speak and share information or just listen to the ideas of others.
New members will be accepted that evening, and we hope to have some interesting opportunities for all who are wishing to get involved. We will hold our election of Board officers that evening. Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome to join us for what should be about an hour and a half meeting.
Then on Tuesday, February 11th, the Yellow Trail will hold its annual dinner meeting at WILLow LeaVes of Hope with dinner beginning at 6 p.m. and a short meeting following at 7 p.m. Guests are asked to pay $10 for dinner that evening with the museum providing the rest of the cost. We are hopeful that many of the guests will sign up to be museum members for this year of 2020, and we hope to find a way for all who are interested to become involved with programs, displays, artifacts, and research at the Yellow Trail this year.
One of our big projects for 2020 is to complete the renovation and displays of the Rural Letter Carriers Museum which has been basically in storage for the last four years. We are ready to hold our heads high for the world to recognize that Hope, Indiana has the honor of the longest continuous rural mail delivery in the state and probably the nation.
Reservations will be required for the dinner meeting, so those attending should either mail in their reservations if they received a form through the mail or call 812-371-7969 to leave names, a phone number, and a head count for the dinner by no later than Feb. 5th. Questions can be addressed to the same phone number.
Membership forms and dinner reservation forms are available at the Yellow Trail.
