Marilyn Marr Lentz, 85, passed from this life to the next at Four Seasons Healthcare Center on June 1, 2020. She was a life-long resident of Bartholomew County since birth on May 15, 1935, as the only child to Forest Ransom and Helen Newsom Marr. Marilyn was a graduate of Columbus High School, class of 1953. Marilyn married Tom C. Lentz on Dec. 16, 1956 at New Hope Christian Church in Bartholomew County.

Her life was invested in many noble endeavors which included but were not limited to being a: wife, mother, grandmother, professional homemaker, gracious hostess, master gardener, competent mechanic, accomplished musician, antique collector, farm manager, student of natural healthcare, and Christ follower.

She served and was a loyal friend to many in several organizations including the Lady’s Country Club of Bartholomew County, a service organization of which she was a life-long member. For the last 60 years she has been a member of Flat Rock Christian Church and Community Church of Columbus where she served others in many capacities including providing piano accompaniment for worship services, serving in children’s ministry, and quietly reaching others for Christ in many ways.

Marilyn was preceded in death by family members that were pioneer settlers of several townships in Bartholomew County, Indiana. She is survived by husband Tom C. Lentz, son Bill (Shari) Lentz of Columbus, IN; daughter Lea Ann Lane (Steve) of Hope, IN; and son T. Daniel (Kimberly) Lentz of Whitestown, IN. She also is survived by 7 grandchildren: Rachel Lane, Steven Lane, Aaron (Cora) Lentz, Ashley (Eric) Fults, Sam (Juliana) Lentz, Katie Lentz, and Grace Lentz. And 2 great grandchildren: Everett Lentz and Annie Fults. Her family was her true joy!

There will be a drive through calling at the entrance of the Community Church of Columbus on Saturday, June 6 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. A memorial service will be held in the church parking lot immediately following the calling at 11am. Those staying for the memorial service may sit in their cars or sit/stand in the church parking lot. Burial will immediately follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Officiating ministers are Brian Ebersold, Flat Rock Christian Church and Tim Walton, Community Church of Columbus.
