Kenneth C. Pumphrey, 80, of Greensburg
Kenneth C. Pumphrey, 80, of Greensburg, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Keepsake Village of Columbus.
Kenneth was a farmer in Decatur County. He served in the Army Reserves as a cook from January 1965 until October 1970.
Kenneth was a member of Burney Baptist Church. Kenneth enjoyed music and making maple syrup that he shared with school children. He enjoyed working at the Indiana State Fair in the Pioneer Village, where he sold his maple syrup. He was continuously going to school to learn many different trades.
Born on October 18, 1939 in Greensburg, Kenneth was the son of Lloyd and Viola Elliott Pumphrey. He married Marty Meier on April 16, 1967, and she survives.
Other survivors include children, Scott Pumphrey of Auburn, GA, Jeffrey (Melanie) Pumphrey of Seymour, and Lara (David) VanValkenburg of Columbus; grandchildren, Ross and Christopher Pumphrey of Seymour and Kira and Josh VanValkenburg of Columbus; siblings, F. Bill (Christa) Pumphrey of Sierra Vista, AZ., Sue (Finis) Jent of Speedway, Jimmie Pumphrey of Greensburg, and Larry (Carol) Pumphrey of Greensburg; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 12 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home with Jimmy Coyle officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Burney Baptist Church.
