George R. “Dick” Hatton, 80, of Flat Rock

George R. “Dick” Hatton, 80 of Flat Rock, passed away Wednesday May 6, 2020 at his home after a long battle with Dementia.

Born March 2, 1940 in Shelby County he was the son of Lowell and Virginia Braden Hatton. He married Kay McColley September 16, 1960 and she preceded him in death August 24, 2015 after 54 years of marriage.

Dick was a farmer and a Pioneer Seed Rep for 55 years and had previously traded livestock.

He was a member of Lewis Creek Baptist Church and was a board member of Pleasant Grove Cemetery Association. He was also a loyal member of the Breakfast Club at Corner Café. He was an avid IU fan.

Dick is survived by children, Jeff (Brenda) Hatton of Flat Rock and Markita (Dick) Turvey of Flat Rock; special friend, Betty Rucker of Flat Rock; grandchildren, Jeremy (Rena’) Bulmer of Edinburgh, Jared(Michelle) Cord of Flat Rock, Brian (Jennifer) Bulmer of Greenwood, Jacob (Mykel) Cord of Fairland, Jillian Wiseman (William Murphy) of Greensburg, Dylan Smith (Shyanne Justice) of Flat Rock, Blake (Jade) Smith of New York, NY, Richard (Mandy) Turvey, Chris (Laura) Turvey and Amy (Jason) Hendrickson, all of Eaton, 24 great grandchildren; sisters, Lola and Steve LeMasters of Boggstown and Martha and John Kolkmeier of Waldron; brother-in-law, Jay (Terri) McColley of Morristown; sister-in-laws, Linda (Jim) Cord, Lou Ann (Greg) Blake, and Beth Thomas, all of Shelbyville; a special Uncle Bud Braden of Greensburg and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Due to the restrictions of the Covid-19 virus a public visitation and service cannot be held at this time. There will be a drive-through viewing Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Hatton Farms, 15765 E 1000 N, Flat Rock, IN 47234 with a graveside service officiated by Jason Kolkmeier following at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Virginia; his wife Kay; son-in-law, Ronnie Smith; brother-in-law, Ronnie Thomas and his beloved dog Rosco.
