Arthur E. Burton, 89, of Columbus

Arthur E. Burton, 89, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday May 19, 2020 at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Born Sept. 19, 1930 in Edinburgh, he was the son of Eddie R. and Bertha Caldwell Burton. He married Florence Reed Sept. 17, 1953 and she preceded him in death June 12, 2019.

Arthur served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hope.

He loved to play the guitar and sing in bands and loved to work in his yard and do gardening.

Arthur is survived by children, Rhonda Burton, Richard Burton and Shelly Frazee, all of Columbus and Ronald Burton of Greensburg; grandchildren, Shana Sindeff of West Baden Springs, Arthur Burton of Franklin, Michael Burton, Nicole Kirby, Andy Burton and Tammy Coon, all of Columbus; 10 great- grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Yvonne (Jim) McPeek of Hope, Linda (John) Wright of North Vernon and Greg (Marci) Burton of Columbus.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 4 sisters; a grandson, Nathan Burton, great-grandson, Joshua Ellington; great-great- grandson, Colton Harris.

Arrangements were entrusted to Norman Funeral Home and due to the Covid-19 restrictions there will be a private family viewing. Cremation is planned following the viewing and his remains will be buried at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
