Carol R. Dailey, 84, of Hope

Carol R. Dailey, 84, of Hope, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020 at her home after a lengthy battle with Dementia.

Born on Jan. 13, 1936 in Bartholomew County, Carol was the daughter of Louie and Naomi Dodd White. She married Alva Dailey on October 30, 1954 in Guilford, IN by her cousin, Orrin Dodd Thayer.

During high school, Carol worked part-time in Hope at Hulls Restaurant, Helms Pharmacy, and Hope State Bank. She also drove tractors on the farm helping her dad.

After high school, Carol worked at Courier Newsoms, Mona Wirth Interior Decorating, and for the last 20 years at Hope Carpet Center and as a bookkeeper for Dick and Joe Whittington’s businesses.

Carol was a member of St. Louis Crossing Methodist Church.

She was a loyal fan of Hope and Hauser basketball attending games until her health wouldn’t allow it. She also would not think of missing any sporting or extra-curricular event of any kind in which her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren participated in.

She cherished spending time with her family, especially at Christmas when she was determined to do most of the cooking.

She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include husband, Alva of Hope; children, John (Bobbi) Dailey of Hope and James “Yogi” (Carolyn) Dailey of Flat Rock; grandchildren, Justin (Nicoleta) Dailey of Hope, Michelle (Jesse) Dailey of Avon, and Tiffany (Chris) Scheidt of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Jadon Jones of Hope, Julius Dailey of Hope, and Landen Scheidt of Columbus; and brother, Kenneth (Evelyn) White of Columbus.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Naomi White; brother, John K. White; and sister, Patricia Bode.

Due to the current COVID restrictions, a private service will be held at Norman Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Cottrell officiating. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
