Jerry Duane Bell, 71, of Nashville

Jerry Duane Bell, 71, of Nashville, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at IU Health in Bloomington.

Jerry was a fireman and paramedic and retired from the Columbus Fire Department as a captain. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970 during the Vietnam War.

Jerry was a member of North Salem United Methodist Church, VFW, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and Vietnam Veterans.

He enjoyed helping people and being involved at church and veterans organizations.

Born on September 11, 1948 in Orleans, Jerry was the son of Forrest and Dorothy Grinstead Bell. He married Betty Drake on June 7, 1969.

Survivors include wife, Betty of Nashville; daughter, Misty Sampson of Nashville; sister, Nola Burton of Columbus; brother, Wayne (Linda) Bell of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Anna; brothers, Richard and Donald Bell; sister, Carol Green; and son-in-law, Scott Sampson. 

A visitation will be held Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Cremation will follow and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
