Night Owls need water to deliver to Kentucky

As many are aware, during the early morning hours of December 11, tornadoes ripped through six states leaving a path of loss and devastation in its wake.

Hope’s Night Owl Country Band stands with the country in mourning the loss of life and continues to pray for everyone affected by this disaster.

On Saturday, December 18th, the NOCB is playing the Alley Taps bar in Nashville, Tenn. On their way down, the band is packing the back of their truck and trailer with bottled water, which they will drop off at the Visitor’s Center in Bowling Green, KY.

“My mom is from Columbia, KY,” says Matt Lee, lead singer of NOCB. “So, Kentucky has always had a special place in my heart. When I seen the devastation go through, I was wanting to figure out a way to help out.”

When Lee and the band found out the venue they are playing this weekend has the sound already taken care of for the band, there was no need to take all the equipment they normally do. That lack of equipment freed up a bunch of space, Lee says.

After posting a callout for donations on social media just a couple of days ago, the response has been outstanding. Columbus’ Eastside WalMart has already agreed to donate 20 cases of water, Lee says.

Lee adds that fellow band members Tim Dooley and Casey Johnson will be making a second trip to Kentucky on Wednesday, December 22nd to deliver any remaining donations.

Through this evening, the NOCB is accepting contributions of cases of bottled drinking water. Those who would like to make a contribution are asked to drop off their donations at Matt’s residence, located at 15841 E. 265 N., Columbus.

“As a band, we have always had big hearts,” Lee says. “And they may be filled with bacon grease and Mountain Dew, but there is caring and love in there and we wanted to help out as best we could.”
